Your new role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen in the Investment and Infrastructure Directorate for the post of Director – Property. The successful candidate will report to the Executive Director and lead the property team with 2 direct reports (National Estates and Assets Manager and Head of Property, Investment and Maintenance) and 14 indirect reports, from Estates & Building Surveyors to a small direct labour team.

The core purpose will be to lead, plan, manage the development and delivery of the YHA network strategy. To include the development, maintenance, and management of YHA’s Property Estate ensuring that their customers have access to a high quality, compliant and reliable hostel network. You will protect and optimise YHA assets, lead commercial property negotiations for acquisitions/disposals and ensure the YHA achieves best value. You’ll work as part of the Senior Leadership Team, reporting directly into the Executive, providing visionary leadership and promoting an ethos of high performance and continuous improvement, driving a step change in the performance, and helping us deliver their transformational goals.

This role sits on the Senior Leadership Team and therefore the new Director, will be required to further develop the vision for the property team, as well as promoting a high-performance culture. You will help the Executive Director to shape their Network and Capital Strategy, installing confidence to the internal/external stakeholders and Executive team.

What you need to be successful

To be successful in this role, you will have experience of leading a property team supporting the development and management of a diverse customer focused property estate, with a proven record of strategic planning and delivery. You will have experience in project development and maintenance, as well as identifying, negotiating, and purchasing operational property assets.

You will be MRICS qualified or equivalent, as well as having experience in a senior property role. You will be keen to develop a team and strategy for a UK leading organisation, as well as adding value to a high performing team.
