West Sussex County Council is embarking on a major modernisation of the HR and payroll technology and processes that underpin the entire employee and customer experience across the organisation. We’re creating simpler, smarter, and more user‑friendly processes that help our people do their best work for the entire organisation and customers across the county.

The HR Shared Services Team is currently recruiting to a range of roles across the HR, Payroll  & Pensions function as it undertakes this significant transformation, seeking experienced payroll professionals to help deliver the change. These roles are essential to delivering the day‑to‑day payroll service, ensuring colleagues continue to be paid accurately and on time during the major upgrade of the payroll system. The new team members will help maintain continuity, accuracy, and high‑quality service throughout the transition, keeping core operations running smoothly as the new system is implemented.

Alongside these opportunities in HR & Payroll we are also searching for a Pension Specialist to join the Policy and Pensions Team. As Pension Consultant you will be a subject matter expert on all aspects of pension provision with the opportunity to work across a variety of pension schemes operated by the County Council, schools, and other external customers, including in relation to the LGPS, Fire Schemes, the NHS Pension Scheme and the Teachers’ Pension Scheme.

This new role will help shape the future of our pension policies, influencing policy, guide decision making, and ensure best practice across multiple schemes which have thousands of scheme members across WSCC and schools.
