Welcome

Thank you for your interest in joining Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust.

We are a large mental health trust and an NHS Foundation Trust that serves the Norfolk and Suffolk regions. We have a mission to support people to live their hopes, dreams, and aspirations. We have changed the way we think, work, and behave - positively, respectfully, together. And we are still evolving.

The last year has been one where we have continued to focus both on meeting the challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic and on taking the immediate actions required to address the concerns raised in our receiving our Care Quality Commission Report (CQC) and the downgrading of our overall rating to ‘inadequate’.

The pandemic has, of course, been a significant challenge. It has had an impact on the nation’s mental health, and we have seen a big increase in demand for specialist mental health support. Children and Young People’s services are seeing more than double the number of referrals than before the pandemic and a greater than 50% increase in referrals to Community Mental Health Teams and crisis services.

We are working with our staff, service users, their carers, and our local partners, including the voluntary sector, to achieve improved and consistent mental health services.

Putting our people first, we will continue to focus on organisational culture, supporting staff engagement, tackling bullying and harassment, and promoting recruitment and retention.  The Director of Strategy, Planning and Partnerships and Associate Director of Programmes and Improvement are critical roles and will play a vital part in our improvement journey. Both roles will have a high degree of visibility. We are seeking open, approachable, and warm leaders with a deep passion for mental health provision, who will support our ongoing transformation. Working closely with our Executive and Senior Leadership Teams, these roles will be crucial to help us to maintain and build confidence in the Trust’s improvement journey and to support our shaping the future strategy and vision for change, delivering a comprehensive improvement programme to bring about sustained and meaningful benefits for service users and carers, staff and local communities.

Together we will restate The Trust’s determination to make changes at pace that are both lasting and sustainable.

Best wishes,

Kathryn Ellis,

Executive Director of Strategic Development and Partnerships
