Sussex Prisons: Long Term Temporary Contracts: GFSL Contractor Escorting

£13.56 per hour inclusive of Holiday Pay.

Overtime available at higher rates


The roles are based on 37.5 hours per week Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm for Contractor Escort/ OSG.


Purpose of the Escort OSG role:

As part of the security team you will be responsible for assisting in the safety and security of the establishment, where your duties will include escorting visitors, building contractors, gate duties within the prison and outside areas. You will ensure the safety and security of the visitors, staff and prisoners within a Prison establishment, while persons from outside of NOMS are on site. You will also ensure that no unauthorised persons or items enter the establishment. Sussex Prisons have an excellent reputation as busy local prisons, which serve all the courts in the South East. Contractor Escort OSG

Escorting contractors & vehicles around prison area

Searching visitors & contractors

Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm shifts. 37.5 hours per week.

£13.56 per hour, inclusive of Holiday

Radio operation & handling

Supervision of visitors & contractors on site

Contractor Tool checks

Patrolling perimeter and grounds

Health & Safety Procedures

Routine administrative work


Experience:

No formal qualifications or previous experience is required for this role.

The nature of the OSG role requires candidates to be security conscious and able to challenge potential compromises and risks. You will also need to be reliable and consistent, level headed and have exceptional interpersonal skills. Successful applicants will have a background in customer services or security, and will be assessed based on the following competencies: Acting with integrity, respecting others, building relationships and team working, communicating effectively, developing self and others.

Full training is provided by the establishment/ department. Training time will be paid at the standard hourly rate.


Security Clearance required:

Immediate start if you are already Prison Cleared.

All applicants will be subject to the HM Prison Service Security Clearance procedure which can take up to 4 weeks. This can include a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check. You must hold a Valid Passport or Birth Certificate & at a Photo-Driving Licence at your current address. All applicants must be able to provide details of 2 satisfactory references, at least one from an ex-employer.
