The Meridian Central Hub is our primary operational centre, housing over 1,800 staff across 12 floors of modern, open-plan workspace. Opened in 2022 following a major refurbishment.
We believe great work can happen anywhere. Our hybrid working model lets most office-based colleagues split their time between home and our offices — with the right balance agreed with line managers.
Frontline roles in social care, highways, and leisure will have specific site attendance requirements, which are always clearly stated in job descriptions.
Most roles are based primarily at one location. Some management and specialist roles may require occasional travel between offices. Any travel costs are reimbursed at HMRC mileage rates or as public transport expenses.
Parking is available at our Eastgate Depot and Riverside Social Care sites at no cost. City centre offices have discounted arrangements with nearby car parks. We strongly encourage sustainable travel.
All homeworkers receive a laptop, remote access to Council systems, and are entitled to claim for a desk assessment. Equipment to support safe and comfortable home working can be requested through Occupational Health.
Yes — we have a touchdown approach where staff can use any Council office for occasional working. Just book a desk through our workspace app. Some specialist team areas require prior arrangement.
Following a £22m estates investment programme, our Central Hub and Digital Campus have been transformed into state-of-the-art collaborative workspaces — with quiet zones, collaboration areas, café facilities, and wellbeing rooms.
All sites are fully accessible with step-free access, hearing loops, and facilities for disabled employees.
