Meridian Council operates across five directorates: Place, People, Finance & Resources, Digital & Technology, and the Chief Executive's Office. Each directorate is led by a Director reporting to the Chief Executive.
Our Chief Executive is Sarah Okonkwo, who joined in 2021. The council is overseen by a democratically elected body of 72 councillors representing 24 wards across the region.
Our 2030 Strategy sets out ambitions for a greener, fairer, and more prosperous region — including achieving net zero by 2038, building 5,000 affordable homes, and becoming a top-quartile employer in the public sector.
We're a Disability Confident Leader and a signatory to the Race at Work Charter. Our E&I framework includes pay gap reporting, diversity targets at senior level, and an active network of employee-led groups.
