Welcome from Executive Principal
I have the pleasure and unique experience of being in your shoes 13 years ago in my application to establish and lead the Trust’s first school – Aston University Engineering Academy www.auea.co.uk. Now in its 12th year with over 750 learners, I am delighted to be able to support you in my role as Executive Principal in the establishment of our second school as part of the national Mathematics School Programme and our planned new Aston University STEM Education Academy Trust (RSD Application phase).
By building on the strong pedagogue, sustained leadership, performance, and specialisms of the highly successful Aston University Engineering Academy (AUEA), the Aston University Mathematics School will strategically align opportunities to deliver a pipeline of local industry skills needs in partnership with local and regional employers, and Higher Education. The sponsorship and integration with Aston University provide a unique differential for the school allowing the access and delivery of HE Mathematics, Engineering and STEM subjects to AUMS students.
You will be supported by a team of outstanding professionals from across our two sites, with peer support, and guidance from AUEA’s highly experienced Head of School and myself as Executive Principal. This is a exception and exciting opportunity for an individual with the passion, knowledge and skills for Mathematics to lead the future of Mathematics Post 16 Education in the West Midlands.
We are delivering on our commitment to establish maths schools across the country and the Aston University Mathematics School will not only empower students to pursue successful careers but also address the growing demand for skilled professionals in booming sectors such as engineering, artificial intelligence, and data analytics.
Birmingham and the West Midlands have a fantastic history of achievement in science and engineering, giving the world inventions ranging from the electric kettle to the X-ray. We are cultivating the next generation of STEM talent, ensuring that young people in the local area have the skills for the industries of the future.
