Life at Wilderness

At A Wilderness Way, we have the privilege of working with amazing children and colleagues every day.

Although looking after children requires a huge amount of patience and dedication, it is one of the most rewarding roles there is. We play a part in transforming the lives of disadvantaged children. What greater reward is there?

Working at Wilderness means we get to go on a journey with each child. With our encouragement, love and support, we witness them grow in confidence, wellbeing and self-esteem and achieve things they never thought possible. The pride we feel when we see our children flourish and transform is the reason we do this role.

Our teams are made up of a diverse range of people with many different skills, passions and life experiences. You don’t necessarily need to love the outdoors or be an extrovert to join the Wilderness team! What we are looking for is people who have the ability to engage, inspire, and form life-changing connections with our children.

We aim to introduce our children to experiences and opportunities which enable them to grow, have fun and achieve. This could be simply learning to cook, interacting with animals, or visiting a theme park or swimming pool for the first time. Or it could be more adventurous things such as abseiling, kayaking or canyoning. No matter what they we do, we are there to support and encourage them.

But one of the best things about Wilderness is that we support each other along the way too. Our teams become much more than colleagues; we become family. We are there for each other when things get tough, we support each other’s ideas and initiatives, and we celebrate each other’s achievements. Our empathy and compassion is what defines us, both as carers and as colleagues.

At Wilderness, as well as being able to impact the lives of children, you have endless opportunities to have fun, make memories and form relationships that are life-changing. So, what are you waiting for, jump in!
