About Us

A Wilderness Way is a sector-leading provider of therapeutic residential care for children who have been victims of abuse and exploitation.

Our care is guided by a simple aim: to transform children’s lives.

Our holistic care aims to support children to recover from trauma, and to grow, achieve and prepare for a positive future. We offer safety and stability, a spirit of fun and adventure, and therapeutic care which enables children to thrive.

Our homes are located across rural Cumbria, the north-east and Northumberland and south Lanarkshire, in peaceful and inspirational surroundings. This provides not only safety and tranquillity for the children, but also endless opportunities for adventure and exploration.

All our homes are large, detached properties, which have been carefully designed to provide a warm, family environment. One child lives in each home, supported by two carers, which offers the opportunity to build the strong relationships with the children that are at the heart of our care.

The children we look after are mainly between the ages of 13 and 18. They will typically stay with us at Wilderness for around 4 months.
