The context
The WMCA’s vision is to deliver a fairer, more prosperous, greener, healthier, and better-connected West Midlands. We’ve just secured a Trailblazer Deeper Devolution Deal giving us more funding, more powers and more influence on a wide range of policy areas. This includes a landmark housing deal worth up to £500 million.
After six successful years transforming the West Midland’s approach to housing delivery, the existing Executive Director for Housing, Regeneration and Place is sadly moving on, leaving a solid foundation and you’ll make our ambitious plans, a reality.
About the role
The emphasis is about achieving results through and with people. You’ll empower a large team and together you’ll drive forward the delivery of development and infrastructure projects in the region. The scale of the task can only be achieved by working closely with our partners – Council Leaders, developers, landowners, investors, and other regional and national stakeholders. Your role will be to unlock public and private investment, making a lasting impact on the region’s prospects. It’s also about transforming outcomes for the citizens in the West Midlands; delivering a place-based approach to development, ensuring we continue building affordable homes and helping create an open and welcoming environment for all communities.
About you
Demonstrating a proven track record of place making, housing, regeneration, and development will set you well for success. It’s evident that this role requires humility and a deft touch. Your ability to inspire multiple stakeholders, build relationships and engage commitment will be crucial to the realisation of our goals. As important as your technical background, your aptitude, innovative and collaborative approach will be a fit with our inclusive, high challenge/high support team environment.
