Starting as an NQT at Winterhill School was at first a very daunting experience, with lots of worries on my mind before my first day at the school.

However, I soon realised that I had nothing to worry about as I was instantly welcomed warmly into the school by all members of staff and students. The science team in particular were extremely supportive of myself, as an NQT, offering guidance and assistance if I ever needed it. My NQT mentor is always a great point of call if I was struggling with any issues. I’m really enjoying my time at Winterhill

Starting at Winterhill has been an exciting new challenge in my career. I am amazed every day at the enthusiasm that staff have, and the relationships they build, to reduce barriers to facilitate a supportive environment for the students. The ethos of the school resonates in every classroom to continually push students to achieve their best.

Taking on a new role has allowed me to work closely with the school's leadership team who have always been available to offer guidance, in the classroom or with professional development. The warm and friendly approach from the SLT underpins the atmosphere of the school so staff also feel valued and supporte

I started at Winterhill in 2010 as Curriculum Leader for Science and haven't looked back since! Over this time I have learnt so much and grown as both a teacher and a leader through the excellent support, CPD and development opportunities offered.

Now, 10 years later I'm an Assistant Headteacher and lead Teaching learning and CPD within the school. As such, I am dedicated to ensuring the same level of development for my colleagues.

It's a great place to work; all colleagues are committed to ensuring the highest standards or education and care for our young people. Our students, families and staff are friendly and approachable and we make a great team. It has been hard work but a pleasure and I look forward to what's next for Winterhill.
