Maintenance Services Manager

Your new role

You will work as a Maintenance Services Manager, and will have operational responsibility for Maintenance Services as well as managing 3 Managers directly, as well as over 30 indirect reports. You will provide management and leadership for this diverse team, delivering exemplary planned and reactive maintenance, and external services whilst ensuring the estate complies with built environment, safety and environmental legislation and best practice.

You will support the Assistant Director with guidance and support with reactive, planned preventative, and statutory maintenance planning and issue resolution, as well as taking overall responsibility for the maintenance strategy for the University.

You will work for the University of Northampton Enterprise Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of the University of Northampton, reporting into within the Estates and Facilities Campus Services department. The department compromises of approximately 240 staff with 30 within the Maintenance Services team. What you need to be successful

You will have an established track record of developing maintenance strategies for a multifaceted estate alongside experience of managing and leading a diverse team with complex budgeting and financial management requirements.

You must also posses exemplary communication and motivation skills with a desire to deliver a first class customer experience. Evidence of effective team leadership in a estates management or similar context is required, along with a sound understanding of higher education and areas that estates professionals can add value.

Planned Maintenance Manager

Your new role

You will work as a Planned Maintenance Manager, reporting in to the Maintenance Services Manager. You will have 2 direct reports and an additional 3 5 indirect reports across the Planned Maintenance team as well as support from the Reactive Maintenance team.

You role will ensure statutory compliance of the built environment and deliver planned preventative maintenance of all building systems through both in house and contractor teams. You will also manage the maintenance team and sub-contractors to ensure work orders are allocated appropriately and planned preventative and statutory maintenance is completed in a timely fashion, within budget and to all appropriate health and safety standards. You will also be responsible for the control of budget and capital expenditure for the planned maintenance services.

What you need to be successful

You will have a qualification in a construction related discipline, as well as ideally having IOSH/NEBOSH.

The ideal candidate will have experience in planned maintenance, as well as having a thorough understanding of health and safety legislation and its application in building maintenance is essential. You will be proactive, positive and meticulous in planning all servicing and maintenance activity and will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to ensure your team are motivated, organised and supported to deliver against clear objectives.

You will have experience in managing maintenance experts, as well as IT skills, including experience with CAFM systems. You will have experience in managing budgets in order to deliver cost effective service.
