Research
UEA provides outstanding cultural, academic and financial support for research, and interdisciplinary collaboration is actively encouraged. Research is an important foundation for UEA's teaching and many new ideas and developments are integrated into the 300 or so courses that we offer.

UEA is part of the Norwich Research Park, a community of research organisations with world-leading science credentials which include The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, The John Innes Centre, The Sainsbury Laboratory and The Genome Analysis Centre. Female employees involved in research or who work in supporting research across the Norwich Research Park have access to ResNet, a contact, support and information network for women, which promotes career development, provides inspiration and raises awareness of employment opportunities for women in research.
On your bike
UEA has introduced a number of initiatives to encourage staff and students to use bicycles, including a Cycle to Work scheme which allows employees to select a bicycle and associated safety equipment (up to £1,000 in value) from a number of local suppliers. An amount will then be deducted from your monthly salary for a period of 12 months, allowing you to benefit from tax advantages. For those employees who have their own bikes, there is a free on-campus bike servicing initiative.
Socialising
The UEA Staff Association is open to all staff. Nights out, quizzes and events such as outings to European cities and to stately homes are organised throughout the year by the Social Committee.
Library
The campus library is open to staff and students 24 hours a day and contains over 800,000 books, journals and specialist materials. This is where the Learning and Resource Centre (LaRC) is located – a valuable space for staff and research postgraduates to think, meet, learn and access resources that enhance and support the University's staff development activities.
Going green
The campus buildings are set in over 300 acres of green parkland, home to a number of protected species and five areas recognised as County Wildlife Sites. UEA is also home to one of the largest collections of low-energy buildings in Britain and by using the latest biomass heating technologies has installed one of the most energy efficient power stations in the country, helping the university to meet its challenging carbon reduction targets.
