We are responsible, respectful learners who persevere to achieve our goals
Values and ethos
TPS strives to develop the ‘whole child’ to maximize his or her potential academically, personally, social, emotionally and spiritually, to become rounded citizens and life long learners who are confident and self assured people. This is done by providing a caring, family atmosphere within an inclusive school, plus a plethora of opportunities during these primary years, from which they may in their future lives, recall in a positive way when faced with decisions. These opportunities come through the rich creative curriculum, enrichment clubs which include every child, overnight educational visits for more adventurous activities, as well as the possibility to travel to London and abroad to Russia, from the international partner school links. Having a Hearing Support Base has enabled the school to teach all children British Sign Language – a real string to their bow, to be able to access such a skill.
The school strives to demonstrate respect, responsibility and perseverance. Children are rewarded on a daily basis for displaying these traits around school by receiving Bear Points or being made their class's Bear of the day. Achievement is recognised through a weekly assembly where a child can be nominated as Bear of the Week and wear a golden tie.
The school is proud to hold UNICEF’s ‘Rights Respecting School’ Award. This is awarded in recognition children's human rights being embedded in the ethos or culture. All children are made aware of the 54 articles that make up the United Nations Conventions on the Rights of the Child and sign a class charter saying they will uphold the rights of children at all times. The school has achieved the Level 1 standard and hopes to begin work towards Level 2, UNICEF's highest award, in the near future.
