About Us

Established 7 years ago by our founder and Chief Executive, David Pierpoint, The Retrofit Academy is the UK’s leading retrofit skills organisation.

We have enjoyed rapid growth in terms of revenue and headcount, but more important for us is the impact we are making on the UK’s retrofit skills gap.

We have trained over 5,000 retrofitters so far and this number continues to rise as we expand our reach.

Developing new courses and qualifications is something we have a strong track record in. We have developed 6 nationally accredited retrofit qualifications and a further 6 retrofit training courses. We are the skills partner of choice for many local authorities, housing associations and major retrofit contractors, often upskilling entire teams.

We know that learning doesn’t stop at the end of a training course, which is why we have a membership organisation with more than 1,300 members. Providing high quality content, technical advice, CPD and online events, we ensure there is competence in the retrofit sector.

We’re absolutely committed to quality and what we call “the race to the top”. Not only have we won awards for our work, we’ve also established The Retrofit Academy Awards to recognise excellence in the sector.

Partnership is something that we firmly believe in. We have flourishing partnerships with training providers, local authorities, housing associations, Net Zero Hubs, major retrofit contractors and industry bodies.

We know that by sharing our retrofit expertise we can continue to increase retrofit skills, improve lives and reduce carbon emissions.

While we’re based just outside Stafford, in the West Midlands, our work and reach covers the whole of the UK.
