How to apply

We want to make the process of applying as straightforward as possible. To this end, we ask that your application consists of the following:

A covering letter, no more than two pages in length, which addresses and provides evidence against the criteria and capabilities as set out in the Person Specification. The covering letter provides you with the opportunity to explain your motivation for applying, as well as highlighting how your experience and achievements fit with the requirements of the role. As such, it is an important part of the application process.

Once you have completed your application, please click on the relevant Apply link to upload your Curriculum Vitae and Covering Letter.  All applications will be acknowledged.

Guaranteed interview scheme

The Environment Agency offers a Guaranteed Interview Scheme which provides disabled applicants with the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities beyond the initial application stage by offered an interview providing they meet the ‘minimum criteria’ for the job.

By ‘minimum criteria’ the applicant must provide us with evidence in their application form which demonstrates that they meet the level of competence required for each essential competency, as well as meeting any of the qualifications, skills or experience defined as essential.

This is consistent with our aspiration agreed by our Board to recruit in proportions which reflect the UK population, without prejudicing our ability always to recruit the best.

More information about the Environment Agency’s commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion can be found on the following link:  Equality and diversity - additional information .

If you consider yourself to have a disability and would like your application considered under this scheme then please refer to this in your application covering letter.
