About the Environment Agency

The Environment Agency protects and improves the environment.

Acting to reduce the impacts of a changing climate on people and wildlife is at the heart of everything they do.

The Environment Agency reduces the risks to people, properties and businesses from flooding and coastal erosion. They protect and improve the quality of water, making sure there is enough for people, businesses, agriculture and the environment. Their work helps to ensure that people can enjoy the water environment through angling and navigation.

They look after land quality, promote sustainable land management and help to protect and enhance wildlife habitats. In addition, they work closely with businesses to help them comply with environmental regulations. They can’t do this alone, so they work with government, local councils, businesses, civil society groups and communities to make our environment a better place for people and wildlife.

Of course, none of this will be possible without the professionalism and dedication of their staff. The Environment Agency are committed to promoting equality and diversity in all they do, and to valuing the diversity of their workforce, customers and communities.
