Tewkesbury Borough is a brilliant area to be a part of from a planning perspective. Situated at the very north of the south-west, our borough spans 160 square miles and has several urban areas in its predominantly rural landscape. Even with its rural character, the borough is home to a wide range of economic activity - from large multinationals to micro businesses. We are an established centre for high quality manufacturing and home to some world-class high-tech aero engineering firms.

Alongside major growth in strategic sites across the borough, we also have two Garden Communities - Tewkesbury Garden Town and the Golden Valley near Cheltenham. These exciting new developments will see the creation of new, sustainable communities with supporting infrastructure in great places. Our council is also working collaboratively with Gloucester City and Cheltenham Borough councils to produce a Combined Local Plan, providing a comprehensive and cross-boundary approach to development across the north of the county.

As a borough council, we are ambitious and committed to transforming our approach to service delivery and place-making. Following the appointment of our new chief executive in 2022, we are now embarking on the next phase of our journey, including the introduction of a new management structure to give us the capacity we need to deliver on our priorities and ambitions.
