To help shape and fulfi l our 2050 vision, Southend-on-Sea City Council is seeking an Executive Director, Environment and Place to lead the delivery of a broad portfolio, including the council’s regeneration and growth, public realm and climate change. The Council is committed to delivering high quality services to meet the needs of residents, business owners and visitors transforming delivery models and building strategically important partnerships. Both social care and community projects are already underway in the development of a new state-of-the-art digital innovation centre, the regeneration of our town centre, and investment in Social Housing.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced, strategic leader with a proven track record of driving positive change in complex organisations. They will lead the Environment and Place directorate and be a key member of the Chief Executive’s Corporate Leadership team delivering high-quality services that meet the needs of the community.
The Executive Director will have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, building effective relationships with a wide range of partners, community groups, businesses, emergency services and other stakeholders. It is important that the successful candidate has a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities posed by climate change and the ability to develop innovative strategies that can go hand in hand with the City’s development.
