Location

The School is situated in Bloomsbury, an area of Central London famous for its garden squares, literary connections and academic institutions.

Local attractions include the British Museum, the British Library, the Foundling Museum, the Dickens Museum and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Oxford Street, one of Europe’s busiest shopping streets with over 300 shops, is a short walk away. The area is well served with restaurants and cafes and several branches of popular high street banks are within easy walking distance.

Annual leave

The School offers 30 days holiday to all staff (pro rata for part-time staff). In addition to annual leave and public holidays there are six School closure days (Director’s Days) each year, mainly spread over the Christmas/New Year break.

Study leave

In order to help staff to achieve their full potential, study leave may be granted to all grades of staff, subject to a minimum service requirement and certain other conditions.

Family friendly policies

A range of family friendly policies is offered, including generous maternity pay after one year’s service, paternity leave, carer leave, flexible working arrangements and compassionate leave. Childcare Vouchers

By joining the BusyBees childcare voucher scheme, working parents can save substantial amounts of money on their childcare costs. The scheme is operated by the School on a salary sacrifice basis whereby you can sacrifice an agreed amount each month from your salary in exchange for childcare vouchers, resulting in a saving on your tax and national insurance contributions.

Ride2Work

The School has introduced a Ride2Work Scheme, designed to promote healthier journeys to work and reduce environmental pollution,. Participating staff can make savings on cycles and associated equipment through a salary sacrifice arrangement.

Season ticket loans

An interest free season ticket loan is available to all staff joining the School on contracts of 12 months or more.

Pensions

The School administers three final salary pension schemes, USS, SAUL and NHSPS. All of these pension schemes offer competitive benefits including immediate life cover and early ill-health retirement, subject to eligibility.

Sports and social facilities

The School has a bar and a refectory offering a range of hot and cold food through the day. Social events are advertised regularly. School staff are entitled to discounts on joining fees for fitness centres at ULU and UCLHT.
