About our IT Services

About our IT Services

Following a wide-ranging review of our operations and services, the IT Services team at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine has recently been re-purposed, ensuring that the 55 business and IT professionals are either delivering customer facing roles or directly supporting underpinning digital and infrastructure services.

The primary functional areas within the department are Digital Services (web, multimedia, e-learning and training), Infrastructures Services (systems and networks), Change and Support Services (PMO & Process, Partners and Helpdesk) and Information Security and Audit.

The team is responsible for supporting the operations of the School by providing an efficient and cost effective service based on industry best practice, sector norms and institutional goals. To this end we are introducing and strengthening our core capabilities in business process improvement, smooth transformational change, robust and resilient infrastructure and value-adding integrations. The strategic projects that the department is delivering during 2016 include:

  1. Re-designing the School's web presence and migrating platform from Percussion CM1 to Drupal
  2. Migrating all staff email from Novell GroupWise to Office365 and Office 2016
  3. Migrating to Windows 10 operating system
  4. Progressive move of certain services from in-house infrastructure to software as a service basis, i.e. CRM, Library Management Services and Web Platform
  5. Upgrade of Agresso from version 5.5 to 5.7 (milestone 5), followed by replacement of pFact with Agresso Awards Management
  6. Introduction of a Current Research Information System (CRIS)
  7. Implementation of a new network core infrastructure and subsequent edge replacement
  8. Introduction of a new Service Management Tool to be used for multiple purposes including a Helpdesk Tool for multiple departments including Finance, Estates, Library and Archive and Registry as well as IT Services

There are many more transformational projects planned and over the coming months, we will be continue to deliver towards the core 4 themes of the IT strategy.

We’re looking for exceptional candidates to join our dynamic team to help deliver an excellent user experience and to help us transform our internal processes and interactions to become a leader for IT in the Higher Education sector.
