IT Services (ITS) is the central IT department for the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, serving and supporting over 5,000 students and over 1,000 educators, researchers and administration professionals. Our community of end-users study and work across multiple global research locations and we support teaching both in the UK and overseas via classroom based and distance learning platforms.

The mission of the School is "to improve health and health equity in the UK and worldwide; working in partnership to achieve excellence in public and global health research, education and translation of knowledge into policy and practice". We, as the IT department, have the challenge and privilege of enabling the great work of our academic peers to progress as smoothly as possible.

The recently approved IT Strategy, which has aligned to the highest priority institutional success factors, is being delivered through four primary strategic themes. These are Flexible Working; Digitalisation; Communication and Collaboration; and Optimisation. Each theme has multiple project streams running and various early successes are evident, though we continue in earnest with some of the larger, longer term activities.

Alongside these transformations to our service offerings, we continue to improve our IT Partner and Helpdesk services, to ensure we are fully engaging, understanding and responding collaboratively to our stakeholders' needs. We are also improving our systems for communication of current challenges and upcoming opportunities, ensuring that all are appropriately informed of the work that ITS are undertaking.

Recruitment and development of top talent and the formation of a high performing team is at the heart of everything we do. We seek to seed and grow, strengthen and broaden skills and capabilities, encourage creativity and foster an ethos of strong, inspirational leadership which is supportive and nurtures collaborative working across the department and beyond.
