Employee benefits

Employee benefits

None of the University’s achievements would be possible without the talents and hard work of everyone they employ, making the staff one of their greatest assets.

When it comes to recruiting and retaining staff, they take a smart approach by providing staff members with a strong level of support, a welcoming & flexible work environment, and an excellent package of benefits.

The benefits package is designed to offer support and incentives that fit in with the different stages and circumstances of an individual’s life/career.

Staff can pick and choose from a vast range of benefits they wish to use throughout their employment including; a generous holiday/pension allowance, flexible working, childcare support, health insurance, discounted gym membership, use of world-class facilities, retail discounts, support with health/well-being, further education, season ticket loan schemes, cycle to work scheme, remote working & many more.

Pay & rewards

When looking at potential employers, salary may not be the only factor you consider, but it is an important one. Everyone wants to know that they’re being paid fairly for the work they do.

Not only do they offer competitive rates of pay, but their incremental pay structure also is fair and transparent and is designed to reflect the development of your skills and knowledge as you progress in your role.

Employees will enjoy annual incremental pay increases until they reach the maximum level for their specific grade.

Annual leave

Everyone needs time off; to spend time with their family and friends, recoup, rest, and basically spend time doing things that aren’t related to work!

Employees of Loughborough University enjoy a healthy annual leave entitlement of up to 30 days leave per year.

All employees at Loughborough receive an additional 14 days leave through University closure days and bank holidays.

That’s 44 days annual Leave!

Pensions

Whether you’re just starting your career or you’re already partway through, preparing and saving for your future post-career is important.

Pensions within the higher education sector are known to be generous, and at Loughborough, they contribute to that reputation with two well-established pension schemes.

The University will contribute up to 21% of your annual salary into your pension scheme.

Flexible working

Arrive and leave at a time that suits you!

In today’s society, everyone finds it difficult to get the right work/life balance. The University is committed to supporting employees in achieving a good balance between their home and work life, and as part of this, flexi-time is available where possible.

The flexi-time scheme allows employees, within the rules of the scheme and in discussion with their line manager, to vary their start and finish times to suit personal circumstances and business needs.

Occasional remote working/work from home is available to employees at certain grades at their manager’s discretion.
