About Loughborough University

Loughborough University is an outstanding institution, world renowned for its superb teaching and contributions to science, sport, and business. The University can be proud of a long rich history and today still plays a huge influential role benefiting the development of students, staff, and wider society at home and abroad.

In 2020 the University was named University of the Year at the Whatuni Student Choice Awards 2020. The Award was based on reviews and ratings made by current students across the UK. In April this year, the E&FM department won the Best Team voted for by the Association of University Directors of Estates.

Positioned in the heart of the East Midlands with close access to major transport links Loughborough continues to expand both in terms of student numbers but also its academic and non-academic sphere of influence. At the very centre of this expansion and success is the universities people. A superb team of academics and non-academics work together in the best interests of each other and students as they strive to make Loughborough University truly world class.

Loughborough is beautifully laid out with buildings, green spaces and walkways positioned to complement each other while providing easy road, pedestrian, and cycle access. Spread over 440 acres the university is the largest single campus site in the UK. A real variety of first-class teaching venues, commercial buildings, living accommodation, science laboratories and some of the world’s best sporting facilities make up the total of 154 buildings. The university also has planning permission to develop a further 85 acres of adjoining land that will host the exciting further development of the Loughborough University Science and Enterprise Park (LUSEP).

The universities facilities have been voted the best in the UK for the last five years in the Time Higher Student Satisfaction survey.

Projects + Sustainability

Loughborough University is a top 10 University that is bold, ambitious, and outwardly focused institution with an emphasis on a sustainable future. It has committed to achieving Net-Zero status by 2050 (and earlier if possible).

Central to the Universities journey towards being truly sustainable is the Estates and Facilities Management Department. The Estates Strategy has a 20-year vision and contains many exciting capital projects around teaching, residential student accommodation, world leading sporting facilities and the Loughborough Science & Enterprise Park (LUSEP).
