About us
For two centuries, Liverpool John Moores University has played a significant role in the life and the economy of the city and the region.
We are built on the principles of providing opportunity through education, to develop the skilled workforce and entrepreneurs of the future.
As a university we are very proud of our people, proud of our place in the city and immensely proud of our ability to transform the lives of generations of students.
Our students are at the heart of our endeavour and our staff are the driving force for all we do. We are fully committed to help students, and staff, at the university realise their professional and personal aspirations and ambitions. We are determined to make a great impact shaping the lives of our students. Our teaching is contemporary and relevant, and our research is world-leading and innovative, impacting positively on the real world. Our work contributes to our city, to our business partners and to the wider community within which we are embedded.
Vision & Values
Our Vision is to be an inclusive civic university, transforming lives and futures by placing students at the heart of everything we do.
• We are student-focused, caring for our students to give them a transformational university experience.
• We care about our community – making a difference to people’s lives.
• We are inclusive – embracing and respecting diversity.
• We are courageous – speaking out boldly and acting for change
We see technology as vital enabler to achieving our strategic ambitions and our operational commitments and are looking for colleagues to join our fantastic IT team.
Strategy
As the University prepares to celebrate two hundred years, it sets out a strategy that honours this heritage, but that follows the example of its founders too in pressing forward, in speaking to its own time and context, and in imagining and pursuing new futures for the people and place that it serves.
Two key commitments underwrite the strategy that follows:
Our vision and values point towards the centrality of our people: the staff and students. We will recognise the priority of people in every part of our life as a University and strive to be a community to which people belong, of which they are proud, and in which they are supported and empowered.
Sustainability is integral to our vision: we have declared a climate emergency and are recalibrating our activities to reflect our target of becoming carbon neutral by 2035. We will work to advance the advent of a sustainable future through every aspect of our activity, including our curricula, research, partnerships, and student, staff and public engagement.
