East Suffolk Council is an exciting place to work and live, combining beautiful countryside, rugged coastline, award-winning beaches and delightful market towns.
We are the largest District Council in the country by population, covering an area of 487 square miles. The district is diverse and is home to a number of nationally significant businesses, including the largest container port in the UK, the Sizewell B Nuclear Power Station with advanced plans to build Sizewell C, Adastral Park (BT's global research and development headquarters) and is also a centre for offshore renewable energy. It has 115 square miles designated as Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a coastline stretching 49 miles.
East Suffolk is made up of approximately 180 villages and includes Lowestoft (Suffolk’s second largest town) in the north with a population of circa 72,000 and Felixstowe in the south, with a population of 29,000. It also has a number of historic market towns including Aldeburgh, Beccles, Bungay, Framlingham, Halesworth, Kesgrave, Leiston, Saxmundham, Southwold and Woodbridge.
Excellent transport links and journey times also make east Suffolk an ideal base from which to visit nearby towns and cities including Norwich, Colchester, Cambridge and London.
