A Brief Look at DDTS
The trusted digital team for the Defra Group is called Digital, Data, and Technology Services (DDTS). We have more than 800 employees, such as project managers, digital developers, analysts and researchers. Our offices are located throughout the United Kingdom, but York, Warrington, Reading, Newcastle, and Bristol are all important digital hubs.
Our Goal
Our goal is to make it easier and faster than ever to work with Defra. To do this, we are always coming up with, building, and supporting cutting-edge digital technologies that focus on the users. We are modernising and making it easier for our employees, the public, and businesses to get information and services. This is how we help the rural areas of the UK and our world-class food and farming industries to grow. Every day, our colleagues work on a wide range of interesting projects, all of which have something to do with the environment. No matter what the project is, we can see how our work affects the bigger world.
About the work we do
We are here to make life easier for the general population, whether you want to apply for a fishing licence online or get the latest information on flooding and coastal risk.
We help farmers get paid correctly for the work they do in the agricultural industry. We also make sure farm inspections are well-organised and completed quickly. Our mission is to make land management in the UK to as successful and forward-looking as possible.
We also help importers and exporters of animal and plant products to do business as quickly and easily as possible across international borders.
We are always trying to find better ways to manage our waste. We will reduce the amount of waste dumped illegally or in wrong locations, as well as the amount of waste that harms marine life in our seas and oceans.
We are happy to be acknowledged as pioneers in Government. From designing new products to using robotics we are always looking for ways to get better. Our work is very interesting and we want you to be a part of it.
