School Direct

We have a well-established partnership with the Yorkshire Inclusive Teaching School Alliance [YITSA] for both Primary and Secondary School Direct courses.

For more details of how to apply, please contact YITSA via the Teaching School Alliance website: YITSA

For 2017-18, we will be in partnership with a new alliance led by St Chad’s CE Primary School.

Please contact us or St Chad’s directly for more information about the programmes on offer.

School Direct is a fantastic way to achieve your PGCE with qualified teacher status.

Which School Direct routes are available at Bradford College?

Salaried - the school covers the tuition fees and pays you a salary based on the unqualified teacher salary scale. If you get a salaried place, you will not be entitled to a student loan or bursary.

Non-salaried - you will not be paid a salary. However, you will still be eligible for a student loan and a teacher training bursary.

“The trainees continue to receive a comprehensive and cohesive training which brings together some of the best elements of University practice and School based experience.” - External Examiner report 2016

Teach Together Network for NQTs

Teach Together is our network for New and Recently Qualified Teachers – Primary, Secondary and FE across Bradford, Leeds and neighbouring areas.

Coordinated by Bradford College with support from Hays Education and Bradford Local Authority, Teach Together has been established to provide on-line support and resources as well as an annual programme of conferences hosted by the college.

Teach Together is open to all staff regardless of their initial teacher training provider with the aim of sharing expertise, promoting an ethos of mutual support and providing high quality resources and training for teachers new to teaching. It also provides a forum for networking and meeting others at similar stages of their career.

“We are delighted to work in partnership with Bradford College; we have an excellent transition rate of employing trainees who go on to become successful NQTs in our school.” - Ann Broadhurst, Director of Workforce, Appleton Academy.

Continuing Professional Development

We offer a large range of full and part time courses for teachers ranging from full taught Masters programmes to courses for support staff and tailor-made training programmes.

Of particular interest, at present, is our Level 5 Primary PE course which is nationally recognised by the Association of PE and Sports Leaders UK. The course consists of six sessions of taught input by a qualified tutor and demonstration and completion of tasks within a primary school setting, over six months.
