My story
I graduated from Sheffield University, but my prospects 23 years later are infinitely better than I could have imagined when I went to my first interview with Sir Michael Bibby. I was appointed UK CEO three years ago.
At Bibby Financial Services, I’ve worked with a vast array of businesses, understanding their individual industry characteristics whilst having the opportunity to work with and create fantastic teams within BFS. Every role within BFS has been the springboard to my next, pushing me outside my comfort zone on occasion but always supportively.
My contribution
Contribution is essentially a personal effort, and the beauty of BFS is that you are not a small cog in a big machine – you get out of it exactly what you put in, and that’s what I’ve found. At the same time, the business is big enough to have a genuinely professional, supportive atmosphere without being full of politics and red tape. You can express yourself freely and we listen. If your ideas work well, they will be actioned.
My community
Our Giving Something Back scheme is outstanding. We can get involved in activities that we wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to do. It isn’t just about cycling from London to Paris or doing the Three Peaks in 24 hours, and it isn’t just about raising money, (though that’s the main focus). One of the key features of it for me is the chance to create unique bonds and friendships with colleagues around the business, and that’s priceless.
