Joy Court

Joy Court is Reviews Editor for The School Librarian journal, Chair of the CILIP Carnegie and Kate Greenaway Medals and long-time activist and past Chair of the Youth Libraries Group. Previously she managed the Schools Library Service in Coventry where she established the Coventry Inspiration Book Awards and the Literally Coventry Book Festival. She now just concentrates on books, reading and libraries as a freelance consultant and trainer, including work with LoveReading4Schools, World Book Day and Oxford University Press as well as Hays.

She has chaired and spoken on panels at festivals and conferences around the UK as well as delivering keynotes and workshops. She is a Trustee and member of the national Council of the United Kingdom Literacy Association where she sits on the selection panel for the UKLA Book Awards and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, The English Association and an Honorary Fellow of CILIP.

Author of Read to Succeed: Strategies to engage children and young people in reading for pleasure (2011) and Reading by Right: Successful strategies to ensure every child can read to succeed (2017) FACET and author of several Riveting Reads annotated booklists for the School Library Association.

Tricia Adams

As a professional librarian with more years’ experience than she cares to mention, Tricia has worked in several sectors including government libraries, as a self-employed information specialist, and also, her favourite role, working with children for 20+ years in her role as a children and young people’s librarian. Tricia has been Principal Librarian for Children Schools and Families and Manager of the School’s Library Service in Northamptonshire.

She was Director of the School Library Association between 2008 – 2018 and has been Chair of the Carnegie and Kate Greenaway judging panel and Youth Libraries Group twice. Tricia volunteers for the Federation of Children’s Books (FCBG), is Chair of the newly formed Northamptonshire CBG, coordinates the FCBG’s National Share A Story Month initiative and is a Trustee of the English Association.

She works with LoveReading4Schools as well as Hays, plus reviews books for several organisations. She is a reviews editor for the older age groups in Carousel magazine as well as being an Editorial Board member, too. Tricia has also contributed chapters to published books on school libraries and library services for children and young people. She is an Honorary Fellow of CILIP and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts
