About the Parish

Abbots Langley Parish Council is one of the larger Parish Councils, serving around 23,000 residents in the SW area. The area is mixed urban and rural. Abbots Langley is a vibrant community offering a wide range of leisure and social activities.

It is the proud birthplace of Nicholas Breakspear, circa 1100 who would later become Pope Adrian IV, the only Englishman to ever become Pope, it has a number of fantastic parks and local amenities and is one of the safest towns in Hertfordshire.

It is an old settlement and is mentioned in the Domesday book. Economically the village is closely linked to Watford and became part of the Three Rivers District in 1974. The Parish Council is a statutory body, set up to serve the residents of the Parish, with 15 Councillors elected by local residents.
