Thank you for your interest in the Headteacher vacancy here at Wirral Grammar School for Girls. Our current Headteacher, Mrs Elaine Cogan, is retiring after twenty outstanding and consistently successful years at the helm. We are now looking for a new Headteacher who can further develop the school’s many strengths, providing the leadership which will ensure the school continues to improve and thrive.

Wirral Grammar School for Girls is a selective girl’s grammar school, which has the core aim of developing healthy, happy, caring women who achieve excellent academic results.

Wirral Grammar School for Girls is a very special place in which to learn. It has a strong reputation both locally and nationally. Achievement is consistently high and we are one of the top state girls’ schools in the country for both progress and attainment.

The last Ofsted rated the school ‘Outstanding in every category’ and we are regularly named as one of the top schools in Merseyside and the North West. Last year we were named the top school in Merseyside by the Liverpool Echo.

Our girls believe they can achieve anything and we give them the skills to do so by being both challenging and caring. We will challenge the girls to reach their considerable potential and we will also respect and care for them and encourage them to respect and care for others. Our girls will be leaders of tomorrow so our curriculum is designed to develop both the skills and the confidence to lead.

The new Headteacher will build on all that has been achieved previously and construct an exciting new plan for the future.
