Leave
University of Edinburgh staff are entitled to a generous annual leave allowance of 40 days per annum, including festive closure days. Colleagues are also able to ‘carry over’ up to 5 days leave per year.
As part of its commitment to family-friendly policies, the University also offers its staff paid leave for emergencies involving dependents, as well as paid leave for fertility treatments/IVF.
In addition to the above, the University also offers ‘A Day to Make a Difference’, enabling staff to take a day of paid leave annually to volunteer for a charity or good cause of their choice.

Pension
The University is part of the USS pension scheme, which offers a substantial employer contribution that is currently 21.6%. USS provides a guaranteed income for life plus a cash lump sum on retirement (defined benefits) and a defined contribution savings pot.
