We are an outstanding Catholic secondary school for boys with a co-educational sixth form located in Nunhead, South East London. We are very proud of our progress 8 score of +1.24 (2023) placing us as the Number 1 boys' school in the country and the 14th highest performing school in the country. Our students consistently achieve over one grade higher than expected in each of their GCSEs.
Achievements such as these are born out of a culture of hard work and success. Our most recent Ofsted inspection (November 2018) has categorised our school as outstanding in all categories. The boys take tremendous pride in their school community and their learning.
St Thomas the Apostle is a school where success is achieved within a nurturing Christian community. This is reflected in our motto “Achieving Excellence with Care”. Students in our school receive the very highest quality education, personalised to meet their individual needs, strengths and interests, so that they leave with the foundations for a successful life.
We insist on the highest standards of behaviour, uniform, attitude to learning and respect for one another and the environment. These standards underpin our success but are also a key reason why our staff enjoy working here. Our lessons last 50 minutes and our teachers teach for 50 minutes. There is no lost learning time due to behaviour issues, meaning as a potential teacher at STAC you are able to focus on your pedagogy and really hone your skills in the classroom.
