Southend-on-Sea City Council employs around 1,800 staff, who work together to deliver a wide range of services that meet the needs of those who live, work and visit Southend-on-Sea.

The Council provides a range of vital services at the heart of the community, as well as investing in exciting and ambitious projects that keep Southend-on-Sea firmly on the map.

With its own airport, opportunities are ripe for continued investment in the City, and the Council is firmly focused on working in partnership with businesses and organisations to build the local economy.

Who doesn’t know the world-famous Southend pier? The popularity of the pier goes from strength to strength, with nearly 370,000 visitors last year contributing to over 7.5m visits to our wonderful City. The Council plans further investment in the pier and central seafront to ensure they remain key visitor attractions.

Along with award-winning parks, a vibrant shopping and night-time economy, not to mention numerous cultural and leisure facilities, Southend-on-Sea is a truly great place to be.
