About Us
Outwood Academy Ormesby
Outwood Academy Ormesby is located in Middlesbrough in Teesside and is easily accessible from Teesside, County Durham, Darlington and North Yorkshire with easy access to A66, A1 and A19. The academy’s facilities provide a rich and welcoming learning environment for the young people. There is an additional resource provision in the academy for children with special educational needs and disabilities. The academy has well-developed relationships with the local authority, co-located special school, external agencies, and primary schools.
The academy received a good judgement in their 2017 Ofsted inspection. However, in July 2022 the academy was given a notice to improve judgement. The academy and trust recognise outcomes for students are not yet strong; for example, the proportion of students achieving a grade 4 or better in English and mathematics is 45%, with 59% in English and 46% in mathematics at grade 4 or better in 2022.
Leadership has significantly changed, and a comprehensive improvement plan has been implemented to secure sustainable long term change for the academy. There is a shared determination to improve outcomes for the students and it is an exciting time to join the academy’s committed team and lead them on this important improvement journey. It requires strong, inspirational leadership; an ability to drive change and a commitment to ensuring the school community has an excellent secondary school that meets its students' needs and raises their aspirations.
