Welcome

Welcome

Mole Valley lies at the heart of Surrey and takes its name from the River Mole, which runs the length of the district. Mole Valley's countryside is extensive, accounting for more than 90% of the district's area, and Mole Valley has been cited as the most heavily wooded district, of the most heavily wooded county in England. Much of Mole Valley sits within the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and The North Downs run across the middle of the district, including Box Hill, a popular visitor spot, and the centre of the 2012 Olympic cycling road races. The majority of the district's population live in the main towns, in particular, Dorking, Leatherhead, Ashtead, Bookham and Fetcham, but the district also contains a host of very attractive villages and hamlets.

This is an exciting and rewarding time to join Mole Valley District Council and be part of the finance team, working in a challenging environment to deliver the Medium-Term Financial Strategy. As we continue to emerge from the pandemic and look to the future, we have two senior level opportunities for positive individuals with strong technical skills, who can provide excellent leadership for Financial Services. Considerable experience of working in local government is essential.

The Financial Services Manager and the Chief Accountant work closely with me to ensure that the Council’s financial position remains sustainable, while continuing to deliver the services that our residents and businesses deserve. We are supported in this by strong relationships with Councillors, who have consistently valued financial management as an imperative for the delivery of effective and efficient public services. We are lucky to have the Councillors we have.

However, in achieving the Council’s goals, nothing is more important than our staff, and we strive to live by a value system that recognises this fact. We take staff wellbeing and development extremely seriously, and we provide a varied and supportive working environment. We actively encourage and support hybrid/flexible working, which ensures ‘delivery of the job’, but in ways which respect the varied needs of our staff.

Thank you for showing an interest and considering a role with us. Please do read on to find out more information on the opportunities, I look forward to meeting, and working with you.

All the best
