About Meadows Primary Academy

Welcome to The Meadows Primary Academy (formerly Blurton Primary School).

At The Meadows, every child is encouraged to believe in themselves and to have high aspirations. Through promoting a positive attitude combined with a strong work ethic; their children know that they can do well in life if they work hard and aim high. This is woven into everything that they do through their core values of respect, positivity and collective responsibility.

They have a dynamic team of exceptional teachers and support staff who act as exemplary role models, educating and nurturing each child, enabling them to achieve high standards of academic attainment whilst also enabling them to become capable, caring and confident human beings.

The Meadows Primary Academy has the advantage of being set in beautiful grounds even though they are in the heart of Stoke-on-Trent. They have modern, light and spacious buildings along with extensive fields and play areas. Their facilities have expanded over the years in line with the growth in pupil numbers and the school was totally rebuilt fifteen years ago and then extended again a couple of years ago to accommodate their growing numbers.

In addition to their excellent staff and premises, they are also proud to be a partner school with the Keele and North Staffordshire School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT). Each year, through this relationship they train a team of six to eight graduates to become qualified class teachers. Every graduate who qualifies through them is graded either ‘good’ or, in most cases, ‘outstanding’. This is indicative of the best practice found throughout the school.

At The Meadows Primary Academy they are committed to ensuring that all of their children are happy, well rounded individuals with a love of learning. They are passionate about enabling their children to achieve their very best and they continually strive to deliver the message that “hard work opens doors and creates opportunities.” The emotional health and well-being of the children, staff and families at The Meadows is especially important to them.

Their core values are at the heart of everything they do. These are:-

  • Positivity
  • Collective Responsibility
  • Respect

Shaw Education Trust vision

Their vision is for a society in which everyone has the opportunity to excel, gain employment and sustain independence; a society where aspiration is the norm and high achievement the only acceptable standard. Barriers to success will be removed by high quality educational and training experiences.

Shaw Education Trust mission

They believe every young person can achieve great things, whatever their ability and whatever their background. They will facilitate excellence by all and for all: with no exceptions.

They will deliver ‘best in class’ tailored learning to ensure that every young person attending one of their academies has the opportunity and support required to achieve their potential.

High quality intervention and targeted leadership development will be the foundation stone of their Trust. They will accelerate improvement in all their academies from their individual starting points. Schools facing challenge will be intensively supported to ‘get to good’ within two years. Leaders will be celebrated, encouraged to excel, think innovatively and be incredible.

They pledge an unswerving commitment to improve the life chances of all the young people in their academies. They will focus on bridging the gap between school and the outside world to give young people the best chances to progress to high quality further/higher education, employment or training.

They will create a self- sustaining family of schools who will support each other’s success and promote consistently high standards across the Trust.
