Thank you for your interest in joining the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine as Head of Operations and Finance.
IPEM is a charity, learned society and professional body that supports approximately 4500 medical physicists, clinical / biomedical engineers, clinical technologists, academics and industrialists in the UK and around the world.
Our mission is to improve health by ensuring our members work to the highest standards. With the majority of our members employed in NHS Trusts across the UK, our members play a key role in the delivery of healthcare to improve patient outcomes, particularly in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. As their professional home, we seek to live by our values as a trusted, inclusive and progressive organisation.
As a membership organisation and a publisher of scholarly scientific content, IPEM faces several challenges. We are fortunate to have weathered the disruption caused by the pandemic without significant financial losses. However, our meetings, events, assessments, and some of our volunteer activity has seen a general downturn since March 2020, and we are looking to deliver significant growth over the next 2-3 years. You will see our strategy in the general information that accompanies the role description.
Based primarily in York, Head of Operations and Finance is a critical post in IPEM, delivering compliance and managing the organisational infrastructure that underpins our capacity and capability. You will work closely with the Chief Executive, be part of a Senior Management Team which provides leadership across both the staff and volunteer elements of the organisation, and you would form a close working relationship with the Treasurer, President and Board of Trustees. It requires the post holder to be a finance professional, with an adept touch in managing people and projects.
