Organisation Overview
Our background
Formerly known as the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC), the Immigration Advice Authority (IAA) is an arms-length body of the Home Office, led by the Immigration Services Commissioner, John Tuckett.
Our statutory duties are set out in the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999and include regulating immigration advice and services across the UK, and we are funded through a grant-in-aid budget to carry out our statutory regulatory responsibilities with around 65 employees working remotely across the whole of the UK.
We regulate 3,326 individual immigration advisers and 1,921 organisations.
The Commissioner acts as Corporation Sole and Accounting Officer and is accountable to the Secretary of State for the Home Office (more commonly known as the Home Secretary) for the IAA’s activities and performance.
Our Vision for Growth
We are embarking on an exciting journey of growth and transformation, underpinned by a refreshed leadership structure, an empowered workforce, and strengthened operational processes.
Our vision is to build an organisation with ambitious goals that embraces a more outward-facing approach, ensuring those seeking immigration advice continue to receive trusted and reliable guidance.
Our new brand identity will embody our bold ambitions, clearly define who we are, and highlight our commitment to achieving our mission through a focused threefold approach: regulation, enforcement, and the promotion of best practices.
