About the Apprenticeship
The role of a Business Admin Apprentice will provide the right person with an interesting insight on how different parts of the Home Office are led, as well as to see, and be involved in the development of important processes and projects. You will contribute towards the effectiveness and efficiency of the organisation, by supporting your team with administrative tasks and helping to resolve problems. We don’t expect you to be ‘job ready’ on day one. You will receive training to enable you to gradually increase your skills and responsibilities in your role. You may have a long career behind you, or this could be your first job.

This Apprenticeship will provide you with the necessary skills to work in a business environment and develop administration skills, as well as:
- overseeing operational activities
- implementing change within organisations
- managing projects
- monitoring risk and agreeing budgets
You will also learn topics such as:
- negotiation
- recommending business improvements
- verbal, written and presentation communication skills
- personal development and wellbeing
Career advice and guidance will also be provided.
The programme has a number of resources to support your learning journey. The teaching and coaching are a blend of workshops, face-to-face and digital resources, designed to take you through the Apprenticeship. This is accompanied by regular visits from a dedicated Talent Coach, who will help to embed your learning and prepare you for your assessment. Each topic will be assessed via a wide range of assessment methods including written assignments, professional discussions, presentations, observations and questions and answer.
This appointment is permanent, however the Apprenticeship is usually delivered over 15 months, but completion will depend on your previous knowledge / experience. On completion, you may choose to progress to a higher/degree level Apprenticeship depending on business needs or continue to develop your skills in the workplace.
To successfully complete this Apprenticeship, candidates will need a GCSE grade ‘C’ or above in Maths and English, or the equivalent, such as key skills or functional skills. If you do not or are unable to provide evidence of this (e.g. certificate), then you will be required to complete Level 2 functional skills during the Apprenticeship programme with support.
The Business Administration Apprenticeship is a Level 3 programme, which is equivalent to A level and includes achievement of the Pearson BTEC Award in Business Administration Level 4 qualification.
There are several Business Admin roles available that support different parts of the Home Office. Roles will be allocated in merit order. The locations will be based in London or Croydon based on suitability and business need.
