In terms of examination results, Hill House School are annually among the best in the country with 58% of GCSE exams being graded at 7/8/9 grades this year and 48% of A Levels being graded at A/A*.

We now look forward to next year and the chance for our current students to scale similar heights of attainment.

As an independent school, Hill House is inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI), which is licensed by the Department of Education and regulated by OFSTED. In the most recent inspection report (published 2016), the school was given the top grade of Outstanding in 7 of the 9 categories inspected, and good in the remaining 2.

The school received praise for the governance, leadership and management of the school as well as the pastoral care we offer our students. The students’ moral and social development and cultural understanding were also commended. Above all, the report had a wealth of positive feedback relating to the contribution of curricular and extra-curricular provision offered at Hill House School, and stated that it is clear that this helps to develop the talents of each pupil, enabling our school leavers to be confident, capable and compassionate. Our glowing report and academic success are a real endorsement of the amazing work going on at Hill House School and the very real difference that our excellent Teaching and Support staff make on a daily basis.

Alongside academic success, we encourage our children to develop in as many different directions as possible, striving for excellence whilst encouraging confidence, decency and integrity. Sport, Music, Drama and other activities play key roles in our school. We offer over 120 clubs and activities covering sports, music, drama, academic areas, hobbies and interests.

Hill House School interacts with the wider community in a number of ways. The school have renewed links with the RAF and host the Air Cadets which is open to children from both within and outside the school, and the charities committee overseas a number of events to raise money for various good causes, including sponsoring 5 children at a primary school in South Africa.

Just three years after being named Independent School of the Year, Hill House has again been shortlisted for the National Independent Schools Awards in 2016, this time in the category of the Outstanding Community Initiative. This nomination is based on the remarkable success of the annual Robin Hood Music Festival, which is now in its sixth year. The festival has grown to be one of the most prestigious and best supported events of its type. Running to 6 days, it now attracts over 500 children from 40 schools across the region.

All teachers at Hill House are highly qualified, and there is a wealth of experience in the staff body. Teachers at Hill House work in partnership with pupils to help them become independent learners who strive for excellence. We encourage in our pupils:

  • The taking of responsibility
  • The embracing of risks
  • The application of perseverance
  • The enjoyment of challenge
  • The love of learning

The ISI have stated that: “By the time they leave the school, pupils are mature, quietly confident and deeply appreciative of the many opportunities the school has afforded them, and are well prepared for the next stage of their lives in modern Britain.”
