Chris Jackson – Head of Transition

I started work at HCC straight out of teacher training and haven’t looked back since. The college was incredibly supportive of me in my NQT year and aided me in my early teaching whilst helping me accumulate a folder of evidence. In the years since I have worked with an excellent science department and have been able to progress well throughout the college; now fulfilling the role of Lead Practitioner with responsibility for the Transition of Feeder Primary schools into HCC.

Yvonne Corbishley – Director of Learning for Maths

I started at HCC as the Assistant Director of Learning for Maths in January 2008. Starting in the middle of the academic year was a challenge, but the staff here are very supportive, and I quickly settled in! I joined HCC knowing that the senior leaders were willing to support me in my career aspirations – it was one of the reasons I was so happy to get the position. Supported and encouraged by senior leaders, I successfully applied for Advanced Skills Teacher status in June 2009, and have been able to work with colleagues across the college as well as at other local schools in developing teaching and learning. Over the last few years, I have continued to be extremely well supported in my own professional development by senior staff at the school, and have been able to participate in a number of training opportunities. The latest of these is the National Professional Qualification for Senior Leaders, and I have been able to join the Senior Leadership Team on a secondment for a year. HCC is a fantastic place to work, with plenty of support available to help staff progress in their careers, whether that is remaining in the classroom and moving towards becoming an outstanding teacher, or moving into leadership and management.
