How to apply

Please send us:

  • Your CV (no longer than 2 pages please), and;
  • A Covering Letter detailing what your skills and experience would bring and why you are interested in working for GLD (no more than 500 words please).

Please send applications to: louise.fussell@hays.com

Closing date

All applications for the advertised posts will be welcomed from senior lawyers with relevant legal experience. Our specialist campaign is running on an on-going basis for fixed-term appointments, so please get in contact with us as soon as possible to find out more.

Interviews

Applications will be reviewed on an on-going weekly basis, at which point candidates deemed to have suitable experience will be requested to meet with a Legal Director from a division to which their experience is relevant.

Nationality and sponsorship:

GLD is part of the wider Civil Service and therefore the Civil Service nationality rules apply. Therefore, we are only able to offer employment to:

  • UK Nationals (and British Protected Persons);
  • Commonwealth citizens and nationals of the European Economic Area (EEA);
  • Individuals with dual nationality where one part is British; and
  • Certain family members of EEA, Swiss and Turkish nationals (as set out in the Civil Service nationality rules).

Full details of the Civil Service nationality requirements may be found at Civil Service website.

Please note that it is possible to meet the above nationality requirements and still not be legally entitled to work in the UK. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure they are aware of their right to work.

GLD can apply to sponsor workers (who meet nationality requirements) who require a tier 2 visa, subject to there being no other suitable resident worker for the role. This is because we are legally obliged to carry out a Resident Labour Market Test by the UK Home Office. GLD cannot guarantee that all applications for sponsorship will be accepted and offers will therefore be conditional until sponsorship is granted, and until the candidate provides proof of their visa.

Other terms, conditions and benefits
  • GLD offers 25 days annual leave per annum
  • We are committed to being the most inclusive employer possible for our people and therefore look to support flexible working through part-time working, compressed hours arrangements, job-sharing or working from home wherever business needs allow us to do so
  • Travel may be required for some roles on occasion.
  • While much of our work is London based, it is possible that some roles could be worked elsewhere in the UK outside of London, or from home. Applicants are encouraged to discuss working patterns and locations with the relevant Legal Director.
  • GLD is happy to consider appointments for periods shorter than 2 years, or appointment through a range of possible alternatives to fixed term appointments e.g. secondments.
