Living in Dubai

Living in Dubai Main

The beauty of Dubai is that, alongside its dynamism and “can-do” business culture, it is a ‘melting pot” in which it is possible to feel right at home. Dubai is an Islamic society, but liberal in outlook and offers a high standard of living. The city is renowned for its safety, cleanliness, and infrastructure. Day to day life is generally easy in Dubai, there are numerous supermarkets selling the same brands as the UK and most products are readily available. Dubai is growing rapidly, with a population of 3.6m and with this in mind, sometimes traffic may be an issue.

The 300 days of unbroken sunshine each year is an attraction, with temperatures typically ranging between 20°C to 30°C (68°F to 86°F). However, the summer months will be hot and humid, with temperatures over 40 degrees. Recreational activities are plentiful and there are a range of social networks. Dubai is fast becoming a world class metropolis with a wealth of facilities. Many residents enjoy spending their weekends at one of its beautiful beaches, or exploring the desert landscapes that lie just beyond the city’s outskirts. There is plenty of popular culture, sport and entertainment available in the city. Dubai has a large British community (approx. 100,000 resident), and there are also excellent British schools.
