This is an exciting time to join the Department for Business and Trade.
We have been created by the Prime Minister to support businesses to invest, grow and export to create jobs and opportunities across the country.
Our people are based across the UK and in over 100 countries around the world. We deliver through our 19 partner organisations including the Competition and Markets Authority, British Business Bank and the Trade Remedies Authority. We are the bridge between business and government, which is reflected in the skills and expertise of our people.
Our priorities are to:
- Remove barriers to business – scrap 100 market access barriers around the world and cut £1bn of red tape holding back businesses in the UK.
- Help UK businesses to grow by selling their products overseas – sign high-quality free trade deals with CPTPP and India and grow UK exports every year until we sell over a trillion pounds of goods and services to the world a year by 2030.
- Make the UK the top investment destination in Europe – be the voice of business in government and attract new investment into communities across the UK, helping to level up the country.
- Attract and retain the industries of the future – deliver our Advanced Manufacturing Plan and ensure the UK remains a great place to attract and grow businesses in other key growth industries including creative, life sciences, tech, financial and professional services.
- Defend free trade – prioritise economic security by strengthening supply chains and standing up to protectionism.
