How to Apply

Main Welcome

Welcome

Thank you for your interest in Croydon Council and these key leadership opportunities in Parking, Highways and Strategic Transport. In Croydon our plans are ambitious.  We foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Our employees thrive in an environment where creativity is encouraged, and ideas are valued. Join us and be part of an exemplar council that’s shaping the future and delivering the best possible outcomes for our residents, businesses, and communities. We have consulted on and shaped a new strategy and transformation plan, with new policies in place as a platform for the Council’s future success in these critical services.

Croydon is more than just a location—it’s a vibrant community. We are proud of our position as a transport hub, easily accessible from almost every direction, even from substantial distances. We continue to work flexibly to accommodate the needs of our staff, but also seek to magnetise the workplace through greater collaboration between services. In doing so we want to forge strong bonds between teams and resilience across our portfolio. We want to extend our networks, building new alliances across the Council and Region, working effectively with partners and suppliers externally to achieve our goals.

Both key appointments will provide ambitious leaders plenty of opportunity to deliver long term benefits that will change the face of Croydon for years to come. You will be responsible for developing teams and exploring new models of service delivery, working frequently with Officers, Members, and our Executive Mayor. Both service areas are critical enablers making Croydon a great place to live, learn and work, and as such attract significant degree of public attention and scrutiny. We value the ongoing engagement this entails through consultations and public fora, so seek leaders who enjoy the direct interaction with the public as positive ambassadors for the Council.

Strategic Initiatives:

Major shift in service delivery model, through digitisation.

Leading a complex network in a busy, urban setting that would cost £1.74B to replace.

Responsible for leading and delivering the £24.1M Reconnected Croydon Programme and lots beyond.

We recognise the challenges we and every council face in being able to deliver long term, complex schemes in turbulent economic conditions. As a new member of the team myself though, I have felt the spirit of aspiration and ambition which is very much alive right across our Council. We want the right people to join us and help us maximise the opportunities these roles present for the people of Croydon. So welcome to our site, please have a read and consider whether you could join us on this journey, building a better Croydon for all.
