Welcome from the Head
I am delighted to welcome you to Cardinal Newman Catholic School. The aim of this website is to give you an insight into what it will be like to work with us at a particularly exciting time in our development.
Cardinal Newman is a popular and over-subscribed Catholic School which serves Luton and Dunstable. Teaching and support staff are not all Roman Catholics and applications from other persons, able to commit themselves to active support for the school's ethos, are warmly welcomed.
The school is academically very successful with examination results above national averages at all Key Stages on a regular basis. As we are one of only a few schools in Luton with a Sixth Form, we are in the enviable position of being able to offer teaching across three phases – something of great value as staff seek to develop their career.
This year, our results stand among the best in Luton at all key stages thanks to our commitment to excellence and determination to foster a positive atmosphere in which students can learn and teachers can teach. Put simply, we expect the best for our students and we expect the best from our students.
The success of the school has been recognised through two OFSTED category inspections:
- OFSTED Section 5: Good
- OFSTED Section 48: Outstanding
Continuous Professional Development is a cornerstone of our success. All new staff, but especially NQTs, receive excellent induction support and those staff who wish to develop as Middle or Senior Leaders can join our Leadership Development Programme. Most importantly you will know you are valued and you will know you are supported.
If you would like to be a part of a forward looking school where every child really does matter and staff can enjoy teaching, please pay us a visit. We are very proud of our students and hope you will be able to share in shaping their future. I look forward to meeting you.
