Electrical Design Engineer (London)


Based from our prestigious London City location (hybrid working available), you will be responsible for designing and development of electrical systems. This will include production of reports, specifications and drawings to the design programme. You will collaborate with other engineers to ensure that all projects meet safety regulations and customer specifications. Additionally, you will work on cost analysis, project management and troubleshooting as needed. This includes, managing project site works, snagging and testing to ensure first class delivery. The slim structure of the highly experienced London team will provide first class support for development, while also encourage responsibility taking and personal impact.

  • Understanding the client's technical project requirements from an electrical perspective
  • Collaborating with other engineers to ensure that all projects are designed in line with our agreed scope of works, internal quality procedures, industry best practice, health and safety regulations and customer requirements.
  • Delivering specifications, drawings and reports to agreed timescales.
  • Providing an end-to-end service by monitoring the project progress and design variations throughout
  • Production of working designs for building services including LV distribution, lighting, small power, data, fire alarms, access control etc
  • Carrying out surveys, investigations, and information searches to develop the basis for design.
  • Preparing calculations to support equipment selections.
  • Promoting sustainable design solutions for all design work
  • Production of schematics, layouts, specifications, reports and design notes to support the design submission. 
  • Present drawings and other information for review in line with Banyards Quality Assuranceprocedures
  • Identifying Health and Safety issues within the design or operations on site
  • Keeping up to date with industry trends and software
  • Identify new techniques, tools etc. that will improve our technical standards or increase our profitability.
  • Assist with promoting Banyard Consultants to clients and other professionals through business development opportunities.
  • Degree, similar qualification or a high level of relevant experience in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
  • Knowledge and understanding of LV distribution systems, general and emergency lighting, including lighting control systems, small power and data, fire alarm, security and access, lightning protection systems etc.
  • Photovoltaic (PV) system design
  • Good understanding of sustainable and low-carbon design
  • Good understanding of British Standards, Building Regulations, and sector standards.
  • Health and safety in design and operations, CDM regulations etc.
  • Experienced in using drafting software such as Revit & AutoCAD
