About WSCC

West Sussex is centrally located on the coast of central southern England and simply has it all.

Acres of green and pleasant countryside, vibrant and varied cities and towns plus miles of sunny seaside!

The local area

West Sussex is as diverse as it is distinctive and has a population of just over 800,000 people. Its communities are spread out along the coastline, a rural inland with key market towns and the economic area around Gatwick Airport.

West Sussex encompasses the cosmopolitan and urban areas of Horsham and Crawley, plus coastal towns such as Worthing and Littlehampton, which are rapidly developing. Over half of West Sussex lies in designated areas of outstanding natural beauty. The county includes the beautiful Sussex Downs, the stunning vistas of the High Weald, plus miles of coast line including Chichester Harbour. It is well known for its stately homes and great estates such as Goodwood, Petworth and Cowdray.

Millions visit the coast and countryside each year and the county is home to notable national and international events. Communications to London, the rest of the UK and to Europe are good, with effective rail links, a major international airport and two sea ports.
